Shelter Project
MOST RECENT house building project
Aid for Education has just built a new house for a 13 year old boy who we sponsor and who currently studies in primary 5.
He lives with his mother, two sisters and a nephew. The family owned their house and the land it is on. It had 3 small rooms and the iron sheet roof was old with holes that let the rain in. The house was in very poor condition and the wooden frames were being eaten by ants. The family also had no kitchen or toilet. His mother works as a farmer, working on other people’s land to earn money to feed her family. She also has a small piece of land of her own, where she grows food for her children. Aid for Education bought a goat for the family, which is a valuable source of income. The mother is also a member of the Abagore Farming Project where she earns a little money and gets her medical insurance.
Below are photos of the old and new houses. The mother is so thrilled to now have a comfortable and safe home.
